Schedule for Appraising Classes
All classes require sign up and payment with the education center sponsoring them. Note that these classes may not be available for sign up until the sponsor publishes the catalog or posts them on their website. The class descriptions are below the current schedule.

Class descriptions
Appraise Your Antiques
Learn the basics of identifying and appraising antiques, art, jewelry, coins and collectibles. Get tips on what makes things valuable and the best ways to sell them. No pictures or books in this class, everything is “hands on”. Examine things like lithophane, trench art, precious gemstones, mourning jewelry & German silver.
Appraise Your Fine & Costume Jewelry
Learn the basics of appraising your fine & costume jewelry, either for resale or insurance purposes. Find out how anyone can authenticate an Italian cameo, the difference between 10k and 14k gold and why there are jewels in a watch. Get tips on the best places to sell, bring a few pieces to class.
Appraise Your Coin Collection
Learn the basics of researching and appraising your U.S. and foreign coins & currency. Examine 200 year old U.S. and foreign coins. Gain knowledge about the ins and outs of where to buy and sell coins, coin authentication and much more. Students will be asked to do internet and book research.
Antique Presentation
Examine and learn about trench art, radioactive glass, rare bronze, lithophane, 1800s era American coins like a half dime and three cent nickel. Become an expert on sterling silver, what makes crystal valuable and fake confederate money. Instructor David Schlueter is a Certified Antique Appraiser. Bring a magnifying glass if you have one. Questions will be encouraged but no outside antiques can be appraised.
